Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
Privacy
Jasper Antiques (Gippsland, Victoria, Australia) handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy is provided free of charge and covers the website and enquiries made through it. It was last updated on 12 September 2026.
Who we are
Jasper Antiques is a dealer in selected antiques, rare books and collectibles. Sales are arranged by private enquiry, not through an online shop. Viewing is by appointment in Gippsland, Victoria. Contact: jasperantiques@pm.me.
What is collected
We collect only what is reasonably necessary to answer an enquiry or complete a sale:
- name and email address
- telephone number, if you choose to give one
- the text of your message, including any catalogue number or title you refer to
- photographs you attach of an object
- if a sale proceeds, the details needed for the invoice, payment confirmation, packing and delivery
The website host may record an IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in ordinary server logs. We do not run advertising cookies or analytics tags, and we do not collect payment-card numbers through this site. We do not seek sensitive information (for example health, racial or religious information). Please do not send it.
How it is collected
Personal information is collected directly from you when you use the enquiry form, send email, telephone, or attend a viewing. It is not bought from lists or collected from social networks for profiling. Server logs are generated automatically by the host.
Why it is used
Information is used to reply to your enquiry, to discuss a possible sale, viewing, packing or shipment, to keep a business record of correspondence, and to meet tax and accounting obligations. It is not sold, rented or used for unrelated direct marketing. Photographs of objects you send are not published without your consent.
We do not use computer programs to make automated decisions that significantly affect you. Enquiries are read and answered by a person.
Who it is disclosed to
Enquiry forms are delivered by FormSubmit, a form-to-email service, so the message can reach jasperantiques@pm.me. Mail is then held in Proton Mail. The website is stored with the hosting provider for this domain. Carriers, packers or insurers are given only what they need if you ask us to dispatch a piece. Information may also be disclosed if the law requires it.
Overseas disclosure
Some of those services operate outside Australia. Proton Mail is based in Switzerland. FormSubmit’s servers are likely to be in Canada and the United States. The website host may use infrastructure in Australia or overseas. Those countries may not have privacy laws that are substantially similar to the Australian Privacy Principles. By sending an enquiry you acknowledge that your message will pass through those services so it can be delivered.
Holding, security and retention
Messages are held in ordinary business email. Studio records on this site are password-protected on the dealer’s own device. Reasonable steps are taken to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure, including HTTPS on the website and a password on Studio.
Enquiry and sale records are kept for as long as needed for the purpose they were collected, and for the period Australian tax law requires business records to be retained (generally five years). They are then destroyed or de-identified where it is lawful and practical to do so.
Access and correction
You may ask what personal information is held about you and request correction of anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Write through the Contact page or to jasperantiques@pm.me. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within 30 days. If access is refused, the reason will be given in writing where the Privacy Act requires it.
Complaints
If you think personal information has been mishandled, contact Jasper Antiques first using the details above and set out what happened. We will look into it and reply. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner:
